Baptisms

Baptism or “Christening” is the name given to the service which makes us members of the Christian Church. Important statements about belief in God are made at the service and, in the Baptism of children, promises are made about the child’s future upbringing. Baptism, therefore, is a serious step and if you feel you are not ready to make those statements and promises we offer a Service of Thanksgiving for the birth of a child.  In this service no promises are made and the child is blessed.  This service will not count as Baptism in future years. We will be happy to talk about this and to give further information.

Baptisms normally happen at 12.30p.m. on the third and fourth Sundays of the month or at the principal services on Sundays or Wednesdays. A leaflet about Baptism is available from the Parish Office.
